A Delicate Joy - A Sneak Peak...

My next solo piano album is called "A Delicate Joy." It is mostly recorded, with just a bit more to do. Mastering/Editing will start in June. I am hoping to release the album by October.

This album will be almost entirely made up of my original music. There are a couple of exceptions... most notably my arrangement of "Morning Has Broken" and (possibly) "Down By the Sally Gardens." It's my first album of predominantly original work since 2005. I'm so excited to release it! It feels so good to be writing and recording my original music again.

I wanted to share the cover with you. This isn't final, but is very close...

That's my little girl, Noelle, from a photo shoot we did with her at the Woodburn Tulip Festival here in Oregon. Our family goes every year. It's a family tradition!

Anyway, I thought you'd want a sneak peak at what's coming!

The photo is evocotive of the title - even the script used for the words. I feel this cover is a piece of art.

I can attest to what you're saying. I think it takes a little creativity to find the system that works for each artist. I started publishing original music CDs about four years ago. Got fabulous feedback, but didn't get a lot of sales, so I started writing Christian hymn arrangements just because I wanted to, giving the MP3s away for free.

Then people started begging for the sheet music to my hymn arrangements, so I started selling the sheet music.

That has been FAR more successful for me than my 3 CDs have EVER been. I hadn't even thought about sheet music until people started begging for it, and now it makes up basically all of my music business.

That's not to say sheet music will work great for everyone, but that's been the niche that's caught on in my music. Being creative and trying new things can help a lot.

Absolutely stunning. It perfectly portrays the emotional sentiment of the Title. Congrats on such a lovely cover design, David! I posted a link to it on my FB fan site, which will doubtless bring you tens of thousands of sales. :o)
